left-behind object:
a photo essay of forgotten gloves
2019 -

this photo essay delves into the abandoned gloves, a seemingly mundane object transformed into a symbol of absence and disconnection. One hundred gloves, found abandoned on the urban landscape, speak volumes about the hurried nature of our lives and the ephemerality of human connection. The project invites viewers to contemplate the existential condition of human existence. Like the gloves strewn across places, we human beings too are transient beings, traversing the streets of life, leaving behind traces of our existence. Just as the gloves are left to weather the elements, exposed and vulnerable, we confront the inevitability of our own mortality and the uncertainty of our place in the world. The white tape around the glove creates a sense of the absurd, drawing on Albert Camus' concept, highlighting the randomness of existence, where everyday objects can be imbued with emotional weight. We are prompted to question the meaning we assign to objects and the fragility of our sense of security. This project goes beyond a simple documentation of lost gloves, it compels viewers to confront the overlooked vulnerability in everyday life, to find solace amidst the fragments of a world in flux.
